Ungrateful Favre

admin| Category: NFL, Penn State Football | 0 Comments

“I see the Green Bay Packers are having as much trouble getting rid of Brett Favre as Penn State is getting rid of Joe Paterno, except Penn State didn’t offer Joe Paterno $20 million. I think Favre should have taken the $20 million and ran with it. These athletes are so ungrateful.” - August 6, 2008

“We are supposed to think Brett Favre is this sacrificial person for turning down millions of dollars to stay retired. If I was a Packer fan, I would want to boo him out. It’s ridiculous he turned down millions to not retire.” - August 6, 2008

Forget the $20 million dollars, these two situations are quite different because Favre retired. If Paterno would retire following this season, and then call Tim Curley next July saying that he had “an itch” to coach again, then we might have a similar situation.

You think Favre is ungrateful for not taking the $20 million? I assume that if Favre would have taken the money, you would’ve called the Fan Line saying “these athletes are so greedy.”

Favre simply wants to play football. How is that ungrateful? Seems more like the Packers are ungrateful that a Hall of Fame quarterback is willing to give them another season.

2nd Stringer, Brett Favre

admin| Category: NFL | 0 Comments

“So Brett Favre, the best quarterback of all time, decides to come back to the Packers while he is still under contract with them and they say no. I’m a diehard Steelers fan. Tell him he can come to Pittsburgh and back up Ben Roethlisberger.” - July 18, 2008

That’s exactly what the Packers have been telling Brett Favre, but you’re missing the point. Brett Favre does not want to be a 2nd string quarterback. Not in Green Bay. Not anywhere.

The Packers have established Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback for the 2008 season, much like the Pittsburgh Steelers have established Ben Roethlisberger as their starting quarterback.

Brett Favre will only accept a starting QB job.

“I was just wondering if Brett Favre and Roger Clemens are the same person.” - July 12, 2008

No. Brett Favre and Roger Clemens are different people.
