“If I was the 18 car, in every race from now until the end of the season, I’d get on the 99 car’s bumper every chance I got just to mess with his head. And then in the final race, if the 99 was still in the running for the championship, I’d rock his world one final time.” - August 29, 2008
And we wonder why some people fail to connect with Nascar. For those of you who are entirely confused: Kyle Busch drives the 18 car. Carl Edwards drives the 99 car.
Imagine if fans of other sports talked like this.
“I think the left-fielder in the 99 jersey needs to get a haircut.”
“I wish the 4 quarterback would just shut up and retire.”
Although, I guess the more Chad Johnson wants to be known as Ocho-Cinco… maybe we’re not that far away.
I’m also starting the campaign that everybody should refer to their personal automobile with a number and a sponsor, just like the Nascar drivers.
Wife: How was work today, honey?
Husband: Not good at all. My #47 Cheerios Toyota Camry was loose all afternoon. Then, when the #55 got to the inside lane, I just couldn’t hold it together. I want to thank all of my coworkers for working so hard today. We’ll be back at work tomorrow.

“I know Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the most popular driver in the Nascar circuit, but let’s face it. Hendrick Motorsports gives him one of the fastest cars on the track every week and he just can’t get the job done. To mention him in the same sentence with Kyle Busch is almost a laugh.” - July 8, 2008.
Joe Gibbs Racing has a pretty strong car set up for Kyle Busch too. While Busch has found his way to victory lane 6 times this season compared to Earnhardt Jr.’s 1 win, they’ve each found their way into the top-10 in 12 of 18 races. They are currently 1-2 in the points standings.
Current Nascar Nextel Cup Points Standings:
1. Kyle Busch - 2686 points
2. Dale Earnhardt Jr. - 2504 points

“Who is writing the script for NASCAR races? Like every sport, it is fixed. You never heard of Kyle Busch until he got to Hendrick [Motorsports]. Can’t you see that this is a put-on? Well, I’m done. No more NASCAR.” - July 7, 2008
Did you ever start watching Nascar?
Of course you never heard of Kyle Busch until he joined Hendrick Motorsports, because he started his Sprint Cup career with Hendrick Motorsports, in 2004 when he was 19 years old. He finished the 2006 season 10th in the standings.
Busch’s real success, however, has come after he departed from Hendrick Motorsports. Racing for Joe Gibbs in the 2008 season, Busch has won 6 of the first 18 races.
I’m not sure Nascar is as fixed as you think. Try giving it a 2nd chance.
