“I really hope the Lions aren’t the first team to go winless in the NFL. I’d like to save that honor for the Eagles some day.” - December 17, 2008
Sorry, but that honor has already been taken.

“I have two points to make regarding the comment about Donovan McNabb being average and agreeing with Rush Limbaugh. First, Donovan McNabb is way, way above average. Secondly, don’t ever listen to Limbaugh.” - November 20, 2008
I have two points to make regarding your call.
First, although Donovan McNabb has had some brilliant games this season, when you look at the overall picture, Donovan McNabb has been way, way average (at best) this season. See for yourself.
Completion %: 58.8, ranks 22nd among qualified QBs in 2008
Yards / Attempt: 6.9, ranks 18th among qualified QBs in 2008
TDs: 14, ranks 10th among qualified QBs in 2008
Interceptions: 10, ranks 23rd among qualified QBs in 2008
Passer Rating: 81.1, ranks 20th among qualified QBs in 2008
Your second point wasn’t really a point, but I appreciate your advice regarding Rush Limbaugh. Even still, the one point that you did make happened to be one point more than Donovan managed to put on the scoreboard this past weekend.

“After Sunday night’s Eagles game, Donovan McNabb has reasserted himself as one of the three best quarterbacks in the NFL. He is going to be the reason why the Eagles will be knocking on the door of the Super Bowl.” - September 30, 2008
Donovan McNabb has looked good so far this season. Really good. He’s on his way to the best season that he’s had in quite some time (barring injury, of course).
Still, you’d be very hard-pressed to find a way to call him a Top-3 quarterback. Through four games, he ranks eighth in QB Rating, seventh in TD passes, fifth in yards, tenth in yards per attempt, eighth in completion percentage, and his team is 2-2. On top of this, you’ve got guys who would almost undoubtedly be considered better quarterbacks but they’ve been injured (Brady) or they’ve struggled abnormally so far in 2008 (P. Manning).
Before you can win a Super Bowl (or even knock on one’s doors, for that matter), you need to earn a playoff spot. In the NFL’s toughest division, the NFC East, nothing will come easy.

“Hey, Steelers and Eagles fans, do not get too excited. You each played a high school team.” - September 9, 2008
This call makes me want to vote for Steven Jackson for Homecoming King. Can I ask a cheerleader to prom? I just hope Owen Daniels doesn’t stuff me into my locker.
If you think it’s creative or funny to insult some I-AA college football program or even Duke or Syracuse by calling them a “high school team”, so be it. But let’s draw a line at the National Football League. In the age of $100 million payrolls, every team has some form of legitimacy, and any time a team dominates an opponent 38-17 or 38-3, it demands some form of respect. After all, only one team has made it through an entire season unscathed.
Instead of resorting to the age-old weak-opponent argument, I encourage you to try something that better conveys how you truly feel.
“I don’t like the Steelers or the Eagles, and it worries me that one or both of them might be good this year.”
“Why do any fans in central Pennsylvania cheer for the Steelers or Eagles? I thought everybody (including the NFL) knows that this is Ravens country.” (sorry… couldn’t resist the inside joke… see below)
“Why were the Steelers on TV yesterday? Everybody knows that this is Ravens country. Even the NFL does.” - September 9, 2008
“I am completely depressed that Tom Brady got injured and is out for the season. I don’t think my Patriots will go 16-0 this year. I might need to find a new favorite team.”

“It’s going to be a long season for the Philadelphia Eagles when they can’t even beat the Jets in preseason.” - August 30, 2008
It’s no secret that the preseason means nothing.
If the Eagles were to lose their entire first string… yes, they would be in for a long season.
Donovan McNabb didn’t play at all. Brian Westbrook didn’t play at all. Second-string quarterback, Kevin Kolb left at halftime with a 13-10 lead before A.J. Feeley played the entire second half.
Don’t lose hope on your team after the preseason. Those four games are strictly warmups used for player preparation and finalizing depth charts.
After all, the New England Patriots were 2-2 in the 2007 preseason (losing to Tampa Bay and Tennessee), so let’s not abandon ship just quite yet.
