“OK. So the Phillies won the championship. It’s not the first championship for Philadelphia because the Soul won the Arena League championship. A championship is a championship no matter what sport it is.” - November 1, 2008
Riiiiight. I’m sure that the Soul’s championship was real satisfying for Philadelphia fans. The Arena Football League couldn’t make Philadelphia feel like it’s 1983. Congratulations to the Phillies for ending the drought.

“It is destiny this year for the Phillies. The Red Sox have won theirs, the Rays have been around for a day it seems like, and the Dodgers have their share. This is the Phillies’ year to get it done.” - October 7, 2008
a) The Red Sox have won seven World Series championships in their history. Therefore, the Philadelphia Phillies will win the 2008 World Series.
b) The Tampa Bay Rays have only played 11 seasons of baseball. Young franchises like the Tampa Bay Rays and Florida Marlins rarely win World Series championships. Therefore, the Philadelphia Phillies will win the 2008 World Series.
c) The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 7 World Series championships in their history. Therefore, the Philadelphia Phillies will win the 2008 World Series.
Yep. It’s clear. This is the Phillies’ year to get it done.

“To the fan who said he’s happy that after 14 years the Yankees aren’t in the postseason, just to let you know, Red Sox fan, once Philadelphia and Chicago, if they go out, this will be the worst watched postseason play in baseball history in the last 14 years.” - September 26, 2008
Instead of critiquing your grammar, sentence structure, and use of “worst in postseason play in baseball history in the last 14 years,” I’ll just say, “Are you kidding me?”
This year’s MLB postseason could feature: 2 Los Angeles teams, 2 Chicago teams, a New York team, a Philadelphia team, the Boston Red Sox, and the feel-good Tampa Bay Devil Rays. What more do you really want?
Even if Milwaukee pulls off a miracle and snubs either the Mets or Phillies, and even if Minnesota can hop the White Sox, there’s still plenty of good baseball to be watched in October.

“As I was growing up I watched the Phillies, the Orioles, the Cubs, the Yankees. Now if you want to watch any of those favorite teams you have to pay for it. Major League Baseball has been ruined.” - July 30, 2008
To some extent, this is a good point. In most cases, if you want to watch any of your favorite teams you have to pay for it. Even then, if you happen to live within the “blackout region” of one of your favorite teams, you won’t be able to see them even if you pay.
However, if you get standard Comcast cable in the Harrisburg area, you see practically every Phillies game on Comcast Sports Net.
Also, if you get ESPN and live on this planet, you’ll see plenty of Yankees and Cubs games.
Three out of four isn’t bad.

“I sure do wish the Phillies were in the National League West. They’d be in first place now.” - July 29, 2008
16 of the 25 teams not in the NL West would be leading the NL West.

“This is all you need to know about the pathetic Phillies: The Marlins, the lowest-paid team in baseball, are only a game behind them. Enough said. ” - July 23, 2008
The pathetic Phillies are 54-46 with the best record in the NL East.
The fact that the Marlins are able to compete with the Phillies on a much lower payroll is nothing new. The Marlins have been operating with a below average payroll for quite some time now, and they’ve been competitive, with two World Series Championships to show for it.
